Black Walnut

(Juglans nigra) Deciduous tree (a tree which drops its leaves annually ). Brown, deeply furrowed bark. Leaves are long (1-2 feet ) and are divided into many toothed segments which taper to a point. Edible nuts with very hard shells are 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" long. The wood is valued for furniture and gun stocks. 150 feet maximum height.
