Wisteria

(Wisteria sinensis/Chinese or Wisteria floribunda /Japanese). This plant may grow as a shrub or a twining vine. The large leaves may be 20" long and are divided into 7- 13 segments. Flowers are blue, blue violet, or occasionally white and form large clusters. The elongate fruit is 4" to 6 " long and is covered with soft hairs that give a velvety texture. Used extensively as decorative plant.

Living history, tours and tourism: Sherwood Forest Plantation on Virginia's James River was the home of President John Tyler.
