(Magnolia grandiflora) Broad leaved evergreen of noble proportions. Leathery, oblong leaves up to 8" long have glossy upper surfaces and rusty undersides. Richly fragrant large white blossoms are cup- shaped ( 6- 8 " across ) and open in early and mid- summer. Fruit is 4" long, heavy, rusty, exposing red seeds when ripe in fall. 100 feet max.
