(Ligustrum amurense) Deciduous hedging shrub. White flowers in early to mid summer. 15 feet max. Privet (Ligustrum japonicum) Evergreen shrub. 12 feet max. Privet leaves are generally oval. Black fruit are berry-like. L. japonicum leaves are glossy, deep green leathery foliage. Blooms in August. Evergreen can serve as single specimen in garden.
