TOUR
INFORMATION
GROUNDS TOUR:
The self guided grounds tour is a walking tour that encompasses the
exterior of John Tylers house and 21 numbered stations
representative of a 19th century plantation. Each stations description
& history is outlined in a pamphlet that is available to the guest
at
the main entrance kiosk.
The fee for the self guided grounds tour is $10.00 per person, children
15 and under are admitted free.
HOUSE TOUR:
House tours are available by appointment. The main house at Sherwood
Forest is maintained by the grandson of President Tyler and his
family through the Sherwood Forest Plantation Foundation. Reservations
may be made by calling 804-829-5377 or emailing info@sherwoodforest.org
, and leaving
your name, the date and time of the call, phone number, date of tour
request, and number in
the party. Reservations are contingent on the availability of the
house. We ask that you call at least one week in advance to schedule
your tour.
Sherwood Forest will return your call.
The fee for the guided house tour is $35 per adult and $25 per
school-age child
GROUP TOUR -GROUNDS:
Parties of 10 or more may request a guided plantation tour. Tour
representative and agencies call 804-829-5377 or email
info@sherwoodforest.org in advance of the visit
with your name, phone number, date and time of your visit. Sherwood
Forest will return your call.
GROUP TOUR-MAIN HOUSE:
Group tours of the main house are available by appointment. Tour
representative and agencies call 804-829-5377 or email
info@sherwoodforest.org. Sherwood Forest
will contact you in turn.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
Special events, meetings, parties, weddings and receptions are
available at the Binford house at Fort Pocahontas. Fort Pocahontas is a
beautiful Civil War fort located on the James River a short distance
from Sherwood Forest Plantation. Requests may be made by
calling 804-829-9722 and leaving a message. Please visit www.fortpocahontas.org

about the fort.
